Storyfort 2024

Please put the morning of Saturday, March 23 on your calendar!

That’s SATURDAY, MARCH 23 — 10:00 a.m. to NOON

IDAHO STATE MUSEUM, JULIA DAVIS DR. BOISE

For a third straight year, we’ll have a slew of great storytellers for you:

  • Having spent 25 years inside, Michael Copenhaver now runs the wildly successful Resident Peer Mentoring Program at IDOC.
  • T.J. Harter attended Michael’s writing class at ISCI a couple years ago. He was released from prison in August. Among other things, he’s a master crochet artist, and now runs his own landscaping company.
  • This year, we’re including a voice from IDOC: Jay Christensen retired in the fall of 2021, having been at IDOC for over 30 years. Most recently, he was the warden of Idaho’s biggest prison, ISCC.
  • We’re fortunate to have Rachael Meyer, who’s a resident at SICI, and a peer mentor, come (with IDOC’s assistance) to tell her story.
  • We’ll also be reading from the work of a few people currently incarcerated: Jason Burdett, Josh King, and Ty Clements.
  • The amazing Chris Shanahan, who is on our Board of Directors, and who has presented the last two years, will be our M.C.!
